Gerald Merrifield purchased Mainline Motors, an existing business in the Town of Watrous.
Mainline attracts customers from across Saskatchewan as a premier Buick, Chevrolet and GMC dealer, with a huge selection of new and used vehicles.
Merrifeld states “Our region is unique in that it is central to all the provinces’ large cities, giving businesses in this region access to 80% of the provinces population – 800,000 people!” He confirms “We have been very pleased with this location, it’s a strong local economy, with strong support from area residents. Dwight Hayter is the CEO and General Manager of the Manitou Springs Resort & Mineral Spa, a therapeutic retreat in Manitou Beach, 4 km north of Watrous.
In business for 30 years, the resort receives visitors from around the world seeking relaxation and the therapeutic properties of the mineral pools. Called the “Dead Sea of Canada”, the salt and mineral content of Little Manitou is renowned for its restorative and healing powers, while the resort also offers guests a health and wellness stay complete with resort amenities.
“This region is great for doing business for two primary reasons: the people and the location”, says Hayter. “The people are very friendly and down to earth, which is what one would expect from a small community, and our location is central within Saskatchewan which lends itself well to receiving people from across the province, the country and beyond.” Hayter agrees that businesses that decide to open in the region will be very well received by local residents.
