SENIORS

Special housing satisfies the needs of an aging population. This includes affordable rental units, “aging in place” opportunities, seniors housing complexes with support facilities, proximity to amenities.

The Watrous Housing Authority also offers 62 senior housing units. This includes 28 duplex units, 24 units located in Diamond Jubilee Court and 10 units at West Ridge Manor.

The City of Humboldt has a number of senior housing options. including: the Housing Authority (includes East Side Village, Harry Ford Centre and Sunset Manor), Caleb Village Retirement Community, Kinsmen Court, Silver Ridge Heights, and St. Mary’s Villa.

RECREATION

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES

There are many regional parks, camps, lakes and golf courses. Some of the attractions offered include the beaches and spa at the Resort Village of Manitou Beach.
The mineral waters in Little Manitou Lake, referred to as the Dead Sea of Canada, are believed to have healing powers. This is a favoured tourist attraction.
The Zelma Reservoir, Quill Lakes and other locations can be utilized for bird watching, fishing and hunting game.
In the summer boating, swimming and water sports abound. In the winter skating, hockey, curling, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and sledding are favoured activities.

CARLTON TRAIL REGIONAL COLLEGE

Carlton Trail Regional College has three campuses; one campus, along with its Administrative Offices, is located in the city Humboldt, the largest centre in the region. The two additional campuses are located in the towns of Watrous and Wynyard.
These campuses are there to focus and serve the career, employment, training and educational needs of students, business and industry in east central Saskatchewan. With classrooms and instruction throughout the region, these programs and services provide important academic, social and economic advantages for the students and the businesses that employ them.

SAINT PETER’S COLLEGE

Saint Peter’s College is affiliated with the University of Saskatchewan, the College provides first and second-year students with fully accredited Arts and Science, Business and Agriculture courses. Many students start their degree program at the College or fulfill the entry requirements for professional colleges such as Medicine, Law, Nutrition, Education, Kinesiology, and Pharmacy at other universities. The College also offers a Creative Writing Diploma, the Certificate in Criminology and Addictions Programs, and other university, professional and community programming. St. Peter’s College award-winning, experienced and friendly faculty and staff, combined with engaging small class sizes and strong sense of community, ensure the students receive the finest quality of instruction and the experience they need to be successful.
